I can't remember where I found the program for this, I think it might have been Wordle, but it describes my life in a cloud of words and I really like it. You may need to tip your screen backwards to see it darkly enough. I've printed a copy out and stuck it to the fridge with a turquoise magnet and it's good having a constant reminder of all the things I like about my life.
The swimming pool has a really thick layer of ice on it - I think I'll give swimming a miss for a few more months.
The ice made so many lovely patterns on the ground - all melted away now though.
When I drove to Bourbriac yesterday afternoon I decided to take a road I hadn't taken before. I set off on my usual route through Lanrivain - bell tower and flowers outside church shown below - and then turned off the main road and took a back lane.
I was beginning to think that there were no flowers out at the time of year that weren't yellow, so the brightness of this ornamental lettuce and the heather was a lovely surprise.
Another smaller belltower on the new-to-me lane and a clapper bridge over a very full stream. The word 'clapper' derives from an Anglo-Saxon word, cleaca, meaning 'bridging the stepping stones'. It is formed by large flat slabs of granite or schist supported on stone piers (across rivers), or resting on the banks of streams.
I stopped to look at these lovely red berries - not sure what the plant is but it was colourfully dripping with them, and then I spotted this gateway almost carved into the hedge.
As I got back into the car from taking this photograph, an emergency vehicle came rushing past with bells ringing and lights flashing and within moments a second came past. I had been thinking what a lovely day it was, but for someone, something life threatening was happening.
I carried on driving down the hill into Bourbriac and stopped to photograph the large and impressive church tower which is in the centre of the small town.
The Physiotherapist, a friend, was on time and I didn't have to wait at all. The second part of my treatment meant I could lie back and read my current Kindle book, as the machine was doing all the work. I'm enjoying the story which is The Vanishing Cyclist by Chris Parker.
Three things I like:
1. Sunshine and the two dry days we've just had after so much rain.
2. The gorgeously tempting smell of beef casserole filling the kitchen area this morning.
3. Meeting neighbours in the lane earlier today who I hadn't seen for several months.
And isn't always amazing that nomatter how long you have lived somewhere there is always a new road to take.
ReplyDeleteI wonder when that bridge dates from...
Thanks for the 'wordle' tip - will be fun to use in the Library where I work. Kat
